What is a GD in Bangladesh?
Filing a general diary (GD) is an important process that allows individuals to record a complaint or report an incident to the police in Bangladesh. A GD is a written document that records a non-cognizable offense, such as theft, missing persons, lost property, or any other non-criminal incidents.
What the law says about GD:
Section 44 of the Police Act, 1861 and Section 154 and 155 of the Code of Criminal Procedure have to be followed to make GD. GD by describing the related matters in the prescribed form kept at the police station. The police officer in charge of the police station will include the description of the matter in GD Form 65.
