What is Revision?

Revision means reexamination or careful consideration with a view to correction or improvement. Revision is the correction of errors by a higher court after examining the records of the lower court. 435 to 440 and 442 to 882A of the Code of Criminal Procedure discussed revision

Difference between Appeal and Revision: 

1. An appeal is an appeal to a higher court seeking to cancel or modify an order or judgment of a lower court for summary judgment or order. But if any irregularity is noticed in the proceedings of the subordinate court, the High Court Division or the Sessions Judge may issue the necessary order after examining the document by summoning the said document on the application of someone or voluntarily motivated. This is called revision.

2. Appeal is called Appeal in English. but Revision is called Revision in English. 

3. All but a few matters are appealable. but Revision is only possible in cases where the appeal does not proceed. 

4. An appeal can be claimed as a right. but Revision cannot be claimed as a right. 

5. Appellate courts have limited powers. but The power of the Revision Court is wide.

6. An appeal can be made against the acquittal. but No revision can be made against acquittal.
