Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal Like many countries in the world, the incidence of violence against women and children has increased in Bangladesh. There has been an increase in cases of sexual harassment, including rape and kidnapping. Some of these cases are published but most of them are covered up due to public shame. In 2000, the government created the Prevention of Women and Child Abuse Act to provide legal relief to victims of these incidents. That law was amended in 2013 to make it more stringent.
Offenses that include violence against women and children According to Bangladesh Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act 2000 amended in 2013, the crimes included in this law are – arson or corrosive, trafficking of women, trafficking of children, kidnapping of women and children, extortion of ransom, rape, death due to rape, incitement to suicide of women, sexual abuse, Provisions regarding dowry death, mutilation of child for begging etc., child born as a result of rape.
