What is cybercrime?

Devices that are connected together by networks such as computers or mobiles; When a crime is committed using these devices, it is called a cyber crime. Those who are involved in such crimes are called cyber criminals

Examples of cybercrime:

** Social Media Harassment: Cybercrime has become a common issue on Facebook. When you can take legal action if you are a victim of cybercrime on Facebook or social media:

**Cyber ​​Bullying- Cyberbullying is defined as cyber bullying if someone unnecessarily harasses you online and tries to defame you or harasses you online in any way. In that case if it is online then you can take legal action against him.

** Defamation – You can take legal action against someone who tries to harm you and your company’s reputation, even if it’s online. **ID Hack – If someone hacks your Facebook ID and threatens to release your private photos and conversations online, as well as demands money from you to stop it, you can take legal action.

**Sexual Abuse- If someone opens an ID on an online platform with your picture online, provides a post using your picture. You can take legal action if he/she publishes some controversial fake news by pairing your photo with other photos, publishes photos or videos of your private moments online, as well as demands money from you to prevent it.

**Hacking- Hacking is the process of unauthorized theft, destruction or damage of data or information online. This leads to theft of individual or organization information and damage to institutional reputation.

  • Circulating personal photos on various troll groups or pages on social media

  • Making a video of an adolescent or young woman attempting to molest and distributing it online
  • Harassment in the name of selling bad products by opening fake pages in the name of ecommerce online
  • Victims of fraud while doing online currency transactions with online exposure
  • Extortion of huge amount of money by calling from fake Bikash number and talking about lottery
  • Fraud in a novel way by giving the customer fake development sms
  • Steal money by stealing bank account and ATM card details online
  • Spamming and mass reporting online
  • Scamming online
  • Spreading false information or spreading news in the name of various celebrities or people online

**What you should do if you are victimized by cybercrime:

Actions or remedies can be obtained in two ways: 1. File a complaint at the police station 2. By directly filing a case in the Cyber ​​Tribunal. (Country’s only cyber tribunal in Dhaka) To be done in case of filing a complaint at the police station: Collect the evidence properly. Save and print them. Adding evidence with screen videos and links. then Go to the police station. File a complaint. If for some reason the police station does not take the case, then the case should be filed directly in the cyber tribunal with the help of a lawyer. (The country’s only cyber tribunal in Dhaka).
